Sadie Robertson: The Duggars Are Awesome! It’s an Honor Being Compared to Them!

Duck Dynasty and Dancing With the Stars cast member Sadie Robertson isn’t shying away from media reports comparing her to the Duggar family members.

If anything, she welcomes being talked about in the same sentence.

The 17-year-old survived this week’s Dancing With the Stars results show and is on to the final four, where she will battle for the Mirror Ball trophy.

Given her upbringing and somewhat unorthodox road to stardom, Sadie Robertson is also sparking a great deal of media interest beyond her dancing abilities.

Specifically, some people want to compare her to the Duggar family.

If you watch Duck Dynasty or watch 19 Kids and Counting online, you know that both popular reality shows center around a conservative Christian family.

Both family patriarchs have sparked some controversy, as well.

Jim Bob Duggar is in the news for removing photos of same-sex couples kissing on their Facebook page, having invited married couples to send in such photos.

Sadie, whose grandfather Phil Robertson is no stranger to polarizing and outspoken views on same-sex marriage, was asked how she feels about this.

Despite the backlash – and the petition to cancel the Duggars’ show – Sadie is happy to be compared to the TLC family, who she considers “wonderful.”

“It doesn’t bother me at all,” she said. “I’ve actually met the Duggars and they’re great people. So to be compared to them is actually an honor, not anything bad.”

Sadie may not care about the Duggar family’s anti-gay beliefs because her family shares the values, even if the younger members are more diplomatic.

At this time, the petition to cancel 19 Kids and Counting has 43,000 signatures, but Sadie’s been there, and the allegations haven’t affected her feelings.

“They’re wonderful people,” she added of the Duggars.

“And I actually wish that I could hang out with them more because we actually do have a lot of the same values so it’s cool to be compared to them.”

They both stand by their convictions, that’s for sure.
